Nothing smells like Christmas to me like these cookies. While they have a short shelf life (about a week), they are absolutely delicious. I make a special batch for my boss each year and she smiles from ear to ear. (I love that).

Ingredients
  1. 3/4 cup butter
  2. 1 cup white sugar
  3. 1/4 cup molasses
  4. 1 egg
  5. 2 cups flour
  6. 2 tsps. baking soda
  7. 1 tsp. cinnamon
  8. 1/2 tsp. salt
  9. 1/2 tsp. cloves
  10. 1/2 tsp. ginger
Instructions
  1. Beat butter and sugar until smooth.
  2. Add molasses and egg.
  3. Add dry ingredients and mix.
  4. Cover and chill for at least an hour (really, this is important).
  5. Make into 1-inch balls and roll in sugar.
  6. No need to press these down.
  7. Bake at 375 degrees for 6-8 minutes.
