Nothing smells like Christmas to me like these cookies. While they have a short shelf life (about a week), they are absolutely delicious. I make a special batch for my boss each year and she smiles from ear to ear. (I love that).

Ingredients
- 3/4 cup butter
- 1 cup white sugar
- 1/4 cup molasses
- 1 egg
- 2 cups flour
- 2 tsps. baking soda
- 1 tsp. cinnamon
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 1/2 tsp. cloves
- 1/2 tsp. ginger
Instructions
- Beat butter and sugar until smooth.
- Add molasses and egg.
- Add dry ingredients and mix.
- Cover and chill for at least an hour (really, this is important).
- Make into 1-inch balls and roll in sugar.
- No need to press these down.
- Bake at 375 degrees for 6-8 minutes.

- Makes 5 dozen.
