Grandma Ardy’s Sugar Cookies

Grandma Ardy's Sugar Cookies
Serves 24
This is the only sugar cookie I will eat. It comes from my grandma who used to make them in a small cafe in North Dakota. My best memories of her are being with her at the cafe and sitting at the cafe bar eating this cookie. She made them huge there. I make them regular sized but I still remember my grandma getting me this huge cookie out of the glass jar on the cafe counter top. They can be rolled and cut out or just rolled in balls and made round.

Ingredients
  1. 2 sticks of butter
  2. 1 cup cooking oil
  3. 1 cup powdered sugar
  4. 1 cup white sugar
  5. 2 eggs
  6. 4 cups flour
  7. 1 tsp. cream of tarter
  8. 1 tsp. nutmeg
  9. 1/2 tsp. salt
  10. 1 tsp. vanilla
Instructions
  1. Chill the dough for at least an hour.
  2. If you are going to roll and cut them, I suggest cooling for 24 hours.
  3. Roll into 1-2 inch balls for regular sized cookies or more for larger once (this is not science so don't be scared).
  4. Roll the balls in sugar.
  5. Lightly smush them with a glass.
  6. If you are going to roll the dough and cut our shapes, generously flour the surface.
  7. Bake at 350 degrees for 10-12 minutes.
